From now on, the co-owner will be responsible for the care, training, and well-being of Rose. Yep, that's me. I think Rose (who is the foundation bitch for Rosestones Shelties) deserves the chance to prove to everyone just how awesome she really is. She is retired from the Conformation ring; after going reserve multiple times, the owner (my mother, Deidra Campbell of Rosestones Shelties) and I decided that Rose's lack of dentition was getting in the way. It's a shame -- especially since her one missing tooth is cleverly spaced -- but she is smart, she is beautiful, and she has a wonderful attitude that has thankfully passed on to her children. She may or may not compete in performance events, but she definitely plays in the backyard and goes to the park when work and weather permits. If she does participate in any performance events, it would be in Rally and Agility only. She is simply too energetic for the regular Obedience ring (and even though she may fool everyone, she isn't as young as she once was).

Rose's temperament has also made her a great friend to my son, Lucas. She has helped him more than anyone could have ever imagined -- she is his security blanket, even if Lucas doesn't know it. Rose and Lucas are almost always together, and it's quite clear that she considers herself his guardian. Believe it or not, she helped him through a recent fever-seizure scare, and she never protests being a pillow during nap time. Below to the right is a picture taken of Rose and Lucas on August 14th, 2009. Lucas is 16 months old, and Rose is almost nine years old. (Fortunately, Rose has Ellie's help -- entertaining Luke is a full-time job!)
